With the Yachtie Yacht Tracker for iPhone, you can...
Track your trips, Share your routes
Yachtie makes it easy to keep track of your yachting adventures. You can log each trip you make, complete with trip notes, distance travelled and even a route map which you can share with your friends and social networks. Perfect for keeping folks back home in the loop - or even for that post-race tack analysis.
Find out where your boating friends and family are
Yachtie shows where and when your friends last checked in, the direction they were heading (COG) and how far away from you they are. Perfect for arranging a rendezvous, or for giving relatives a little peace of mind. Especially as they'll have your last reported position to hand in an emergency.
See Yachtie traffic on an AIS style display
Yachtie lets you track the checkins of fellow Yachtie users around your current position and gives you important safety information such as their Course Over Ground (COG), Boat Name, Call Sign and MMSI for VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
Bookmark and search for your friends
Yachtie lets you search and bookmark your Yachtie friends, so it's easy to keep track of your favourite Yachties. And by setting an optional privacy group, you can even make sure its only your friends who can see your location.
Stay in touch automatically... Stay online longer
As well as being able to checkin when it suits, there is an auto-checkin option which lets Yachtie keep your friends updated while you get on with having fun. And because you have control over how often and how accurate your location updates are, Yachtie is kind on your battery life too.
Make rendezvous plans, Stay connected at home.
The Yachtie broadcast system makes it simple for you to stay in touch with your family, friends, fleet, yacht club or owners association. It's like VHF, but social - and because it's designed for sailors, it's much kinder to your battery and data plan than other social or instant messaging apps.
Warning: Yachtie is designed as a fun social tool, and is only as accurate as the information it gets from other Yachtie users. It does not (and cannot) guarantee the information is complete or accurate, and not all boats around you will be Yachtie users.
Yachtie must therefore not be used for navigation or as a replacement for AIS, official safety aids or common sense. If it proves useful in a safety situation, that's a bonus.
